Independence Schools – USD 446

USD 446 comprises of four schools educating grades pre-k through 12: Eisenhower Elementary (Pre-k-2), Jefferson School (grades 3-5), Independence Middle School (6-8)  and Independence High School (9-12).

The Independence school district educates just under 2,000 students and consists of many new and restored school buildings after receiving a school bond not too long ago. The middle and high schools were restored keeping the historical aspects of each building while Jefferson was built as a brand new school. Each now contain state-of-the-art technology, sound systems and gymnasiums. Eisenhower Elementary was the youngest building of the district so it remains unchanged. USD 446 has a 13 to 1 student to teacher ratio falling below the state requirement of 14 students per teacher.
Independence High School is also well known for its athletics holding many sub-state and state titles in multiple sports such as basketball and tennis. Outside of athletics students have the opportunity to participate in debate, fine arts, cheer, student council, band and many more.
