The Coffeyville School District supports just under 2000 kids from pre-school to high school. Three schools provide the p-12 education including Community Elementary, Roosevelt Middle School and Field Kinley High School. A head start program is also available for kids younger than the pre-school age at the Dr. Jerry Hamm Early Learning Center.

According to a 2010 study by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) The Coffeyville School District spends $10,114 per pupil with 63% on instruction, 32% on support services, and 6% on expenditures. The state of Kansas averages a 14 student per teacher ratio. Coffeyville schools boast a 13 student per teacher ratio exceeding the state average allowing for more attention to each student. Coffeyville not only exceeds the state average in student-teacher ratios but also beats the national average in drop-out rates for 9-12 grades with 3% in 2009 – 1.4% less that the national average.
